PBPL 236 - U.S. Census Data and Policy Studies

Course Description

This graduate-level course addresses in depth the census data as the primary resource for analyzing local and regional changes. The course emphasizes the application of census data to various areas of public policy, including health, immigration, economy, education, and housing. Students will learn about survey design, census geography, and advanced techniques for accessing and analyzing census data. Practical sessions will involve working with the U.S. Census API for mass data downloads, data merging, (spatial) analysis, and visualization.
